Brad Choyt | Teaching and Learning Strategy, Accreditation Lead

Culminating a nearly 30-year career in a wide range of educational settings, Brad Choyt currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for Regional School Unit #13, a district with six schools in mid-coast Maine, and on the Board’s Curriculum Committee and the Student Engagement Task Force. Brad is also in his sixth year as a Commissioner for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) on the Commission for International Education and serves as a chair for accreditation visits at international schools.

Thanks to Brad’s experiences as the Principal/Head of School at four distinct schools around the world, he brings extensive knowledge of strategic planning, data collection, performance indicators, and community support for planning to his work at the Big Questions Institute.

Brad’s first Headship was as the Founding Director of Green School in Bali, Indonesia, a renowned school devoted to environmental practices in education. While in Bali, he was instrumental in developing a 20-acre campus with over 40 buildings made entirely from sustainable materials. Brad then returned to the United States to serve as the Head of School at Blue School in New York, a school founded by the Blue Man Group, whose mission focused on developing innate creativity through strong academics with an emphasis on social-emotional learning. More recently, Brad has served as the Head of School at North Yarmouth Academy, a Pre-K through 12 school on the coast of Maine, and Crossroads Academy, a K-8 school in Lyme, New Hampshire.

A graduate of Brown University and the University of Pennsylvania, Brad began his career teaching at a variety of schools in New England. He also served as the first Director of Education at the Rubin Museum of Art in New York City.
