“Change always involves a dark night when everything falls apart. Yet if this period of dissolution is used to create new meaning, then chaos ends and new order emerges.”
Our BIG Question:
How might we re-energize our work as educators and leaders after a difficult couple of years?
Join the Big Questions Institute and fellow educator-leaders from around the world for an inquiry-based experience that feeds the mind, heart, and soul. Recharge after an incredibly taxing couple of years. Reboot and build capacity to navigate challenges to come. Reconnect with the joys of education. Respond to the needs of your school to facilitate a more vibrant and united community. Reimagine what school can be.
This provocative, self-paced, hybrid experience will help you reflect meaningfully, unleash your imagination, and build your capacity for more effective school and community leadership as we navigate an increasingly complex future. It will connect you to a global community of educators who are “rebooting” their own approaches to leadership. And the live coaching component with Institute co-founders Homa Tavangar and Will Richardson will both nourish and deepen your journey.
What to Expect in the "Leadership Reboot"
The BQI Leadership Reboot experience is self-paced, meaning you can work through it in three days or three months or even over the course of a year. It's also hybrid, which means there are synchronous coaching and asynchronous community interactions as well. No matter how long you take, live coaching and online community interaction will always be available.
Each of the three modules features:
- Introductory videos by Homa and Will to set the stage
- Relevant, provocative readings with response questions to provoke and add context
- A full week’s worth of daily thinking/writing prompts to deepen your reflection
- A short, culminating project to bring your thinking into focus
- Overall introductory and concluding videos from Homa and Will to add context and frame next steps.
- “Rebooters” will have a private, dedicated space in the BQI community to connect and share their responses, projects, and experiences with others on the journey.
- And, every week, Will and Homa will offer “Reboot Circles,” a live, open discussion/coaching hour for anyone who wants to drop in to discuss their journey.
Some Of the Big Questions You'll Consider as You Reboot
Reflect: Where have you been brave? How have you changed? What gives you hope and how do you maintain hope?
Reset: What are you determined to keep or carry through the “portal” coming out of Covid? What will you leave behind? If rest is resistance, how do we use rest as a way to reset? What other ways do you reset?
Reinvent: In what ways might you use your imagination more regularly in your daily work? How can you begin to work and live with greater coherence between your values and actions? Dream about what school can be: What changes? What do you want to start building (or dismantling)?
