What your school's story? And who is telling it?
“The stories we tell literally make the world. If you want to change the world, you need to change your story. This truth applies both to individuals and institutions."
To educators, parents, students, boards, and school communities, we ask:
How do we use the power of story to drive support for profound school change?
We're in a huge moment of transition, and most institutions are "in-between stories," moving from traditional systems and practices to new, yet to be uncovered ones.
This is especially true in education. The pandemic has forced us to rethink and reimagine in fundamental ways the experience of school for students and teachers. And a new narrative of how we define and become educated is quickly emerging.
Change in schools feels more imminent than ever, and if we are to pave the way for real change to happen, we're going to need to understand the power of story as a driver.
In this intensive 2-day workshop, we will provide an overview of:
- How to think about storytelling as a catalyst for change
- Understand the connection between great storytelling and great leadership
- Recognize the connection between the story and who is unheard - the state of equity and belonging
- Tools and strategies of crafting your school's story
- Some examples of great storytelling in schools
Join Homa Tavangar and Will Richardson for this deep dive as they look at the power and influence of story in our thinking about schools and education, and how we can begin to create stories that drive reimagination.
